In parallel with music, photography has always been a part of my life. At a young age I would steal my father's cameras and take pictures of my adventures. After a car accident left me disabled, my focus left the extreme sports and mountaineering that I so loved and was replaced by photography, music, and the arts. All through my childhood, high school, college, and my adult life I have used photography as means of employment as well as to enhance the entrepreneurial endeavors I was engaged in. Photography has been a useful skill for many reasons, but has allowed me to think outside the box in a more creative way in other areas of my life.
My first job as a photographer was in high school, when I taught the class at the school after my teacher realized I had more knowledge than him. In fact, he became my assistant for a summer a few years into my career. I was on yearbook as a photographer as well. After high school I jumped in with both feet, learning everything I could. I leased a retail space that had both a studio and gallery, and would book client two weeks out to both give the illusion of being busy, and give me time to learn how to do what the client asked of me.
After a couple years of portraiture, weddings, and family pictures I broke into the editorial photography, and commercial photography fields. During my career I shot for magazines such as Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune, Slam Magazine, and commercial clients such as Coca Cola, Shlumberger Sema, Extra Space Storage, and more.
Although I have sold most of my gear and do not professionally work as a photographer, I am now a hobbyist that loves to capture people and places as I travel. See my photo albums below!
